Step-by-step instructions

on how to wash your Human Hair wigs and toppers:

1. Detangle the Wig or Topper

Before washing, gently comb or brush through the wig or hair system using a wide-tooth comb or a wig brush to remove any tangles. Start from the bottom and work your way up to avoid causing any breakage.

2. Fill a basin with lukewarm water OR use light water pressure from a sink or shower

Use a basin and fill with lukewarm water (not hot, as it can damage the hair). Avoid extreme temperatures.

OR a shower head or sink: use light water pressure and hold the wig from the top ALWAYS pointing the water in a downward facing direction while holding onto the wig. We like to hold the wig next to the side of the sink or shower for support. DO NOT wad the hair in a pile in your sink or shower. Always be gentle with the hair.

3. Add Shampoo

IF using a basin: Pour about a nickel size of shampoo (the one given to you at your wig/topper appointment) into the water, and mix gently until the shampoo dissolves and you have a soapy solution. Then place your wig/topper into the water and gently swish it around. Do not rub or twist the hair, as the can cause tangling, frizz, or breakage.

IF using a sink or shower: place the wig/topper on the side of the sink or tub while you rub the nickel size shampoo between your hands until it lathers, and then pick up the wig/topper and gently put the shampoo through the hair in a downward motion. After getting it through the hair LIGHTLY tap the inside of the wig cap and LIGHTLY pat the top of the wig or topper. Do not aggressive rub the hair or the top of the cap (it will pull out the hair and ruin the cap).

4. Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse the wig/topper, thoroughly with lukewarm water until all shampoo is removed. Avoid rubbing or wringing the wig.

5. Condition the wig

Apply the conditioner given to you at your appointment. Focus on the mid-lengths and ends, where the hair is most likely to get dry. Avoid the area next to, or touching the cap. Leave on the conditioner for 2-3 minutes then rinse in cool water in a downward motion.

6. Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse the wig/topper, thoroughly with lukewarm water. Avoid rubbing or wringing the wig.

7. Dry the Wig/Topper

**Apply care products (heat protection/oil/ etc), given to you at your appointment prior to drying the hair.

Towel Dry: gently blot the hair with a towel to remove excess water. Avoid wringing or rubbing the hair with a towel.

Air-dry: place the wig/topper on a wig stand or a mannequin head to air-dry. This helps to keep the shape of the wig or hair system. Make sure it’s completely dry before wearing or storing it.

Blow Dry: You can lightly blow dry on a low heat setting, avoid using high heat. ALWAYS point the blow dry nozzle in a downward facing angle, so the airflow goes down the hair. This will help protect the hair and minimize tangling.

8. Final Styling

Once dry, you can style the wig/topper, using your preferred hot tools given to you at your appointment. Use on a lower heat setting. Always use the heat protectant given to you at your appointment.

Additional tips:

Avoid over washing. Wash your wig/topper when it feels dirty, stinky, or greasy, not after every wear. Over-washing can strip natural oils from the hair.

Always use the products given to you at your appointment to ensure the test care and longevity.

If you are using styling tools, always make sure the are on a medium/low heat setting, and apply a heat protectant to prevent hair damage.

These care tips and routines will help keep your human hair wig looking natural and beautiful for longer.
